.
What the heck do you do on the two nights a week when there are no football games? You watch movies!!
The Lookout - Starring Jeff Daniels, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (10 Things I Hate About You) and Ilsa Fisher (Wedding Crashers)
The tale of a brain-damaged twenty-something talked into helping rob a bank by his new, mysterious friends.
This movie starts out a little slow, but really picks up in the last 1/3. The action isn't overly intense, but it's enough to keep you entertained and wonder what you'd be like if your wires were crossed.
Slovenly Couch Potato Grade: B+
Hot Fuzz - Starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (Both of Shawn of the Dead)
The boys from uproarious Shawn of the Dead are back for a try their hands at a cop/caper movie. Nicholas Angel (Pegg) is an overachieving officer in London that is so good at his job, he makes everyone else look bad. They ship him off to the quiet town of Sanford to be a desk jockey, but strange happenings are afoot. I'll be honest. This movie was completely different than what I expected. I think it is still very good, but don't expect a slap-stick comedy that the previews portrayed. A mix of satire, creepiness and action make it a dynamo of a movie that finishes with a bang.
Slovenly Couch Potato Grade: A- (Girls like it zero)

Jon Hefty's movie review: "World Trade Center"
Holy crap, please don't watch this movie. If you enjoyed simultaneously feeling utterly helpless and overly patriotic during the Sept 11th attacks, you'll love this. Not only do you get to channel up all your long lost emotions, but now you have to watch two guys be crushed and burned until they're ready to die. Follow this up with a hearty dose of "9/11/01 Live Events As They Happened" (thanks, MSNBC!), and you're ready for a nice restful night's sleep.
And yes, I know I didn't have to watch any of these programs, but I convinced myself it was a good idea to remember the tragedy of it all.
It was not.
Is "World Trade Center" the flick with Nick Cage? I saw it was on HBO last night and was going to watch it but I missed the first 20 minutes so I decided not to. Sounds like I made the right decision.
I DID however flip to the "9/11/01 Live Events as they Happened" on MSNBC while I was snuggled comfortably in my bed, and after watching it for about 10 minutes I was anything but comfortable.
Indeed, Nic Cage is the star of that flick.
He's wearing what seems to be a Freddy Kruger mask most of the movie though.
I watched United 93 a couple months ago on one of my days off. I cried like a newborn baby. Seriously. I figured the Paul Greengrass movie would be better than seeing Nicolas Cage -- I kept thinking I'd just imagine Cage commandeering the plane while Ving Rhames and Steve Buscemi play cards.
I don't know which I deleted from my DVR faster...World Trade Center or Sunday's Eagles game.
